I do enjoy the original electronic dance version of the song, but I was at my piano and wanted to do something different with it.
As much as I enjoy dancing, I’ve always felt that some songs are too emotional to just dance to. I feel like something is sometimes lost in the artist’s meaning when people are bouncing around to the awesome beat. I’m not going to go out and cover every sentimental dance song back to Outkast’s “Hey Ya,” but I tried taking “Sweet Nothing” down to a more grounded, dramatic sound. In my piano version, the tempo is slowed down and the soft Taiko drums mimic the steady heartbeat of a heavy heart.
